Pavement that starts below the surface

Most pavement failures are base failures. Before we place a single ton of asphalt, we mill, expose, and evaluate the underlying aggregate base to confirm it has been properly installed and compacted to specification. Only then do we place binder and surface courses.

That discipline is why we surpassed 3,000 tons of utility trench asphalt placed this year alone. Every mat we lay is compacted to grade, tied cleanly into the existing surface, and finished to shed water the way it should.

How often this work is needed

Sealcoating suits sound pavement every few years, overlays typically buy a decade when the base is solid, and full reconstruction is a 20-year decision. We schedule paving from spring through late fall while plants are running and temperatures hold compaction.

What affects the price

Paving quotes move on square footage, how much of the existing base can be reused, thickness of binder and top course, access for trucks and the paver, and whether drainage has to be corrected first. A driveway that only needs an overlay costs a fraction of one that needs full-depth reclamation, and we will tell you which you actually need after walking it.

When it counts as urgent

Potholes opening at a commercial entrance, a trench patch settling below grade, or pavement breaking up where trucks turn are worth a same-week call. Left through a freeze and thaw cycle, a small failure spreads into the base and turns a patch into a rebuild.
